Open When You Need a Hug, June 22

Before we left on the voyage our children decided to give us a send-off at a restaurant called “Trade” in Boston. It was quite a feat for all to meet us in Boston Thursday night before our planned departure. All had to plan to leave work early to meet us. Earlier in the day our youngest daughter cut her hand badly and had a trip to the ER to receive stitches.

All in all, we had a wonderful evening. Below is our departure photo all laughing with our hands up in camaraderie.

We were completely surprised at the end of the night to receive a box of treats to open along the way, that included notes of encouragement, care packages, birthday and assorted presents to open along the way. There was one present labeled: “open when you need a hug.”

Chris and Maura looked in on us as well. They held space, helped find some levity, and showed us the path to recovery. Thank you all!!!!!!
